The Cinema and Audiovisual degree aims to give professionals higher qualifications in cinema and audiovisual by promoting the development of skills and the effective use of relevant theoretical-practical and technical-artistic concepts.  This degree intends that students use the languages and technologies of cinema and audiovisual media. The theoretical and practical proficiency in the use of audiovisual tools, viewed from a creative and aesthetic point of view, promotes conceptual and methodological creation in two domains: (1) Technical field: practice in the use of audiovisual equipment, which are seen as creative and aesthetic tools; (2) Artistic domain: developing concepts and languages in the art of image, namely in the areas of video, cinema, sound and lighting. The study program includes a group of subjects in the areas of film, video, television, visual studies, design and information technology.

Sound Recording and Editing Student will be able to:
1) Manipulate audio equipment such as recorders, microphones, lapel microphones and perche recognizing the technical specificities of each one and applying them in the work context.
2) Plan the recording of human voice and soundscape using ab, xy and ms stereo capture techniques.
3) Distinguish between digital audio and analog audio, recognizing the specifics of each one.
4) Operate Digital Audio Workstations (e.g. reaper), editing and mixing audio tracks for dialogues and soundscape; apply a recognize the specifics of the effects of reverberation, compression, equalization and automation.
5) Prepare and manipulate audio in television contexts.

Photography and Moving Image 1- Recognize discourses and techniques of contemporary photography, in order to understand its commercial or artistic applicability as well as its ethical implications.
2- Develop theoretical and practical knowledge of the photographic record in digital support as well as its initial treatment with software, for application in supports and audiovisual media.
3- To explore possibilities of interdisciplinary crossing between photography and other areas of visual and sound creation, developing experimental work.
4 – Start the student in the practice of recording video images, relating it to the theoretical knowledge of the structure of the video signal and the operation of the camera.
5 – Know how to capture and process images from a video camera.

Editing General Skills:
It is intended to provide the student with the necessary knowledge so that he can understand the relationship of space and time in film editing. Through its theoretical and historical contextualization in different languages and genres and through the development of the technical and creative resources of digital editing, the student must acquire comprehensive professional skills in the area, of image and sound editing.
Specific Skills:
The student will be able to use different audiovisual editing applications, develop workflow organization, understand digital formats, use different tools, apply image processing. The students will also understand an audiovisual grammar and know how to apply it to the editing work, by using the rules of visual and sound continuity, cutting rules, narrative coherence, dramatic rhythms, choreography and visual composition.

Audiovisual and Film ProductionGeneral:
In this subject, the student must know and know how to characterize the process of developing an audiovisual and I or cinema project: idea, pre-production, production, post-production, distribution and exhibition.
Develop skills in terms of planning, production, solving issues inherent to the realization of an audiovisual and I or cinema project.
Specifics:
Develop and produce projects in the following areas: multi-camera, television, advertising, documentary, fiction, addressing the different stages of the production process.

Contemporary Art and CultureTo be able to know a wide range of contextual, author and material references, which constitute the corpus of culture; be able to use a set of tools to interpret the constitutive phenomenology of culture; acquire and use a lexicon (articulated), rigorous, appropriate I specific, for a self-referenced critical discourse, about your own production and that of your peers; expand the capacity for investigation, prob/ematization and questioning of photographic, cinematographic, design, multimedia, and cultural production phenomena. Narratives and Screenwriting This course will explore the theoretical and practical foundations for narrative writing and the development of scripts for the various audiovisual media, with a focus on the development of dramaturgy applied to audiovisual and cinema, the development of narrative structures, the creation of characters and principles basic narrative and drama for its development. Students will have contact with the basics of cinematographic writing and the development of audiovisual scripts in order to be able to translate visual ideas through writing.2º year | 1º semester | 5 ECTSNO

Post-Production and Visual EffectsStudents must acquire theoretical and practical skills in the creative techniques and strategies of the post-production chain of audiovisual projects, with emphasis on fiction, whether in advanced cinematographic editing, color correction, grading, tracking, stabilization, digital composition in Green Screen , or the basics of Motion Graphics. They must master some of the software commonly used in audiovisual post-production (and existing at school), such as, for example, the Adobe CC 2021 package and DaVinci Resolve 17. They must also work on all the technical concepts acquired in order to enhance the best creative solutions, whether in specific UC projects, or in the interdisciplinary fiction project of the study cycle.2º year | 2º semester | 6 ECTSNO

Script Writing General Skills: Understand and apply the construction tools for audiovisual and cinematographic writing and the creation of scripts. Practice and develop arguments for short films in various stages.
Specific Skills: Being able to go through all the steps of creating a cinematic narrative from the idea, passing through the various versions until the final argument. Explore and practice the different elements and techniques of creating an argument, including premise, character creation, structure, plot, dialogue, atmosphere, genre and substance.
